Description:
Sacroiliac Joint injections are minimally invasive, quick, and highly effective procedures used to alleviate pain caused by disease, wear down, or inflammation of the sacroiliac joints. This procedure involves the injection of a local anesthetic directly into the sacroiliac joint. If two sacroiliac joint injections are successful at temporarily alleviating pain, then a Sacroiliac Joint Fusion will be recommended to achieve permanent pain relief. Sacroiliac Joint Fusion involves the placement of a small spacer into the sacroiliac joint. Over the course of several weeks following the fusion, the sacroiliac joint stops moving, and the pain resolves.
Conditions Treated:
Sacroiliac Joint Injections and Fusion are commonly recommended for patients with the following conditions:
What to Expect:
Sacroiliac Joint Injection: procedure length <5min. Patients start experiencing significant pain relief almost immediately. The expected duration of pain relief is several days. Sacroiliac Joint Fusion: procedure length: <45min. Patients start experiencing significant pain relief within 1 week following the procedure. Pain relief is expected to be permanent. Sacroiliac Joint Fusions are done at all of our offices under IV sedation. You will need to have a driver with you on the day of your Sacroiliac Joint Fusion.
